Spearhead from Nelson goes Ledinek

We are proud and happy to announce our newest glulam project—supplying a GL production line to Nelson, Canada. The line will be installed at the Spearhead production facility outside Nelson, BC.

Spearhead, located in Nelson, British Columbia, specializes in designing and constructing high-quality timber buildings. They focus on custom timber structures, including residential homes, commercial buildings, and unique architectural projects, using sustainable and innovative building techniques. Their team combines traditional craftsmanship with modern design to create durable, aesthetically striking wooden constructions. Spearhead emphasizes collaboration with clients to ensure each project reflects both functionality and artistic vision. The company has built a strong reputation for pushing the boundaries of timber construction while maintaining environmental responsibility. Their portfolio includes innovative glulam and mass timber projects, showcasing the versatility and beauty of engineered wood in modern architecture.

Ledinek was selected to deliver the complete new plant. The project starts with a dedicated sorting line, and a large storage system for ready-sorted timber is compactly integrated into the main production hall. After cutting out defects marked by the scanner, the boards are finger-jointed to the desired length. A floor storage system collects the laminations, which are later planed and prepared for glue application.

The plant will feature Ledinek’s innovative Hyperpress, capable of producing almost any beam geometry, while a wide beam planer ensures each member achieves precise dimensions and a flawless finish. The entire production process, from raw timber to CNC machining, will be supervised and controlled by the PC-based X-Lam Manager software, providing full automation and efficiency.

With the ground already broken for the new production hall, deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, marking a significant step forward in Spearhead’s timber production capabilities and commitment to sustainable construction.
