November 2011
::: Woodex
At the end of November the LEDINEK company successfully presented themselves at the International Trade Fair for Wood Products in Moscow where the interest for wooden house construction and manufacture of individual elements for this kind of construction was prevailing.
It was therefore a good decision to organise an international conference on CLT elements: cross laminated wooden walls and ceilings which as a construction material are being more and more used in wooden house construction on European, American, Russian and other markets.
As the organiser we can pride ourselves on the international participation of field experts. Among the presenters at the conference were Mr. Richard Santner of Holzplus, Austria, Mr. David Almkvist of Akzo Nobel, Sweeden and Mr. Silvano Madallon of UniTeam, Italy.
According to the professional public reaction, the conference was successful in reaching its goal to present the practical aspects of the use of CLT elements as well as the aspects of their use in architecture to a wider circle of professionals. We have also presented real buildings built with CLT elements, the equipment and other means for their manufacture.
We have also been invited to participate at the Fifth International Congress on Wooden Building in Sankt Petersburg in the coming days.

::: CLT plant
A new big project for Russia
Accompanying various Fairs and Kongresses by the Association of Wooden Housing (Ledinek is a member of the Association) in St. Petersburg the Ledinek company has had a number of successful presentations on CLT plants. Further on we have, with our russian customers, visited big CLT plants in Europe and established contacts with european construction companies which use these products as a building material. We have gathered all the information and new findings of the field which required many years of thorough work from the entire Ledinek team, however with this knwledge and experience we were able to answer all various questions to the russian investors.
At the end, our efforts were rewarded in September 2010 when Ledinek won its biggest project up to then which wasn't already a CLT project but a BSH project in the Far East of Russia - Arkaim. Simultaneously negotiations were going on for another big project - ZAO „Ladozhsky DSK“ a CLT plant for 130.000 m³/year of CLT products and 70.000 m³ of BSH (glue lam) products. The signing of the contract took place in September 2011. The assembly of the first phase which includes stacking equipment, a planing-sorting line and the production of CLT elements will start in June 2012. Completition of the first installation phase of the project is foreseen for the end of year 2012, the second phase should be completed in autumn 2013.

::: Arkaim - BSH line
116 containers have been shipped to the ARKAIM company in Vanino, in the Russian Far East.
The containers loaded with our newest Glue Lam machinery will reach their destination via the Trans Siberian railway. The main profile of the AKRAIM company has been lumber logging and the export of harvested wood (larchwood and whitewood) as well as planing mill products and the production of chipboard and pellets from waste wood.
With wood becoming a more and more popular building material, the company is now expanding its field of activity by purchasing new machinery lines and complimentary equipment housed in premises covering 60 hectares. The Ledinek machinery will be installed in brand new premises covering 20,000 m2. ARKAIM will manufacture standard and curved laminated beams as well as smaller beams for the Japanese house building and construction market.
As they themselves say, the capacity and variety of wood processing procedures to be launched has no equivalent in Russia.

::: LIGNA
An increased number of visitors was noticeable at this years presentation of Ledinek at LIGNA 2011 in Hannover, Germany. A mix of our core products and new innovative machines together with our best reputation as supplier of glulam beam lines and machinery attracted a high number of existing and new prospective customers. This was our best ever result at LIGNA in terms of interest.
The Dekoplan was introduced for the first time to the public and turned out to be a real crowd gatherer. The machine utilises innovative dynamic tool movements for decorative planing and structuring of tongue and groove boards, 4 side planed solid wood boards or other similar products for interior design.
As the woodworking machine companies are recuperating from the financial crisis, they are looking for new opportunities. One of this year’s focal points was the production of CLT (cross laminated timber) panels. This was evident from the number of presses exhibited by different suppliers. Our X-PRESS has proven to be a worthy part of the Ledinek product range as the sturdiest, strongest and most innovative of them all, while still being simple in design and use. It uses pressurized air rather than hydraulic fluid. This means there is less maintenance and no risk of damage to the products due to leakage. Also the modular design enables a variable implementation.
Our other new line was the Flexipress CNC - a fully automated press for flexible production of curved beams. Its special construction enables adjustment to various shapes of objects in the shortest possible time, as well as the production of small lot sizes, even a single beam at a time.
Already shown before, but new to the Ligna exhibition, was the Eurozink Compact finger jointing machine. A highly sophisticated hydraulic unit and peripherals, servo driven actuators and advanced programming solutions have resulted in the fastest finger jointing machine in its class.
New and innovative machines were of interest not only to experts and colleagues but also to the general public. However the first also noted many other improvements in other machines exhibited at the Ledinek stand. A new Superplan EC, featuring light weight floating vertical units and directly driven feeding rolls, was introduced to our range of moulding and planing machines. The New Superles line was supplemented with a 600 mm wide machine, bearing all known features of the product line: best surface quality available, easily exchangeable and directly driven planning shafts as well as a wide range of available variations and options, which make the machine suitable for every operation of any size. Our presentation was rounded off by an X-CUT cross cut saw, GML grinding machine and our evergreen, the Rotoles 400 D-S calibrating milling machine.
We thank all the participants, our customers and visitors, for a memorable event.

::: Moelven Töreboda
Close before Ligna started in the middle of May, Ledinek successfully won another ambitious project. The official signing of the contract took place during the international fair in Hannover with Mr. Roger Roser and Mr. Johan from Moelven and Mr. Gregor Ledinek and Mr. Gilbert Kolmann from Ledinek.
Moelven Töreboda, Sweden After due consideration Töreboda has chosen Ledinek and a Turn-key project for a new production of laminated beams has been ordered. Most optimal layout of the equipment as well as the fact that Ledinek has all major machines in its own portfolio tipped the scales in Ledinek’s favour.
Moelven Töreboda is built on Scandinavian values and their aim is to develop construction based on Scandinavian building tradition. They are Scandinavia’s leading and most innovative producer of glulam which is widely used in load bearing structures. With almost hundred years of tradition and experience in glulam construction Moelven Töreboda is also one of the most demanding customers in the world.
Wood which has already been sorted is bought and manually marked. Defect spots on wood are marked and cut off on the X-CUT S350 saw. Then laminated lamellas are manufactured on the Kontizink machine with up to 15 cycles per minute and are afterwards calibrated for gluing on the Rotoles planing machine. Moelven Töreboda decided on the Rotoles technology after bonding and delamination tests had shown best results.
After finger joints have been cured in a fully automated floor storage, lamellas are glued in the PLC controlled Hyperpress into curved laminated beams.
Through a direct connection of the company’s own construction supported by the special software from Alfha Elektroanlagen Gmbh & Co KG and Cadwork the entire line makes a CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing).
The assembly starts in November 2009.

::: LIGNA
This year's Ligna was no surprise as far as the number of visitors is concerned since it dropped as expected for about one third However, few but good visitors helped to create the optimistic atmosphere during the fair.
Soon the word started to get around about the very successful installations from the Ledinek company in years 2007 and 2008. Not only the new plant for laminated beams at Poppensieker & Derix-DE but also Mayr-Melnhof Systemholz Gaishorn-AT, Rettenmeier Holzindustrie Hirschberg-DE, Buchacher Holzleimbau-AT and Monnet Seve Scierie Sougy-FR confirmed Ledinek's pole position in the field of solid wood technology. Quite a number of new prospective buyers were attracted to the Ledinek's stand by the new machines and plants in Scandinavia at Södra Timber-SE, Rörvik Timber Myresjö-SE or JG Anderssons Söner-SE.
Newly developed technology which the innovator in gluelam construction and High-End planing technology presented at Ligna made beside customers also Ledinek’s German and Swiss colleagues regular however most welcome guests on the stand.
Expert visitors were above all interested in the new finger-jointing line Kontizink 15-200kN. The exhibited machine had been sold to Moelven Töreboda-SE already before Ligna closed its doors.
Another breakthrough was the new X-CUT saw with which new standards have been set for laminated and duo beam and solid constructional timber production. X-CUT is the right choice for a reliable production when working with large cross-sections.
Also the new Superles with a direct drive has been this year's Highlight among large planing machines. This same technology has been for many years positively developed with high performance planing machines of the Superplan and Stratoplan family reaching feed speed up to 900 m/min.

::: Kontizink H
The innovative spirit of our company and numerous groundbreaking details of the existing Kontizink and Eurozink finger jointing lines convinced the managers of US based Louisiana Pacific Corporation (Nashville, Tennessee) to entrust LEDINEK with the development and manufacture of the first finger jointing line with horizontal joints for OSB.
In short eleven months, following the handshake at the Ligna 2007, we have developed, built, tested, prepared for transport and shipped in 12 containers a new finger jointing line. Our proven concept of continuous processing based around the unique Kontizink roll press was redefined with an entirely new milling units and a cross cut saw. Patterned boards of thickness between 19 and 25 mm are finger jointed with a best possible tolerance on the patterned side which must not be damaged during the production process. Even for our ingenious designers the handling of such a delicate material was a challenge. Some house own detailed work was necessary to achieve a result which we are proud of: a finger jointing line producing 20 horizontal joints at 80 m per minute with OSB. Same construction can be used for production of up to 40 joints at max. 150 m per minute with constructional timber which is easier to handle... more>>>

::: LEDINEK MOSCOW
Representation office LEDINEK MOSCOW
A lot of work has been done, effort made and patience needed to finally establish our representation office in Moscow. And finally the more pleasant part of it took place, namely the official opening of the representation office LEDINEK MOSCOW.
Opening ceremonies are also in Russia important for making business and a splendid opportunity to make good business relationships. Therefore the preparations for this event were careful and complex not only for the employees of the new office but also for those at home.
The opening itself was carried out very professionally, congratulations to our Moscow team! A press conference for journalists took place before the arrival of other guests, among which let me mention Mr. A.V. Petunin, the owner of the Paleksstroj company and Mr. S. Glebov from the Akzo Nobel company. The little group of guests from the LEDINEK companies from Slovenia was headed by both managing directors Mr. Pavel Ledinek and Mr. Gregor Ledinek who were also most interesting partners in the interviews for many journalists and guests, mostly representatives of foreign present and future business partners. Many questions were addressed to the manager of the new office Mr. Felix Voglhofer and to our sales managers and then the atmosphere became more relaxed. We took this opportunity for a brief representation of the country we are coming from and served the guests our traditional cake »potica« and toasted to this one and future achievements with the well-known blueberry liqueur.
The representation office in Moscow is by all means a very important achievement and a market-oriented business decision of the LEDINEK companies, of which we have great expectations. The LEDINEK companies reached in year 2007 on the market of the ex Soviet countries 48% of their entire realization and successfully accomplished projects have raised the expected realisation for this year. Having our own representation office in Moscow actually means being present on the local market and consequently being more flexible in adjusting the selling strategy to the specific needs and features of the Russian market. We also expect better relationships and easier communication with their financial and customs institutions which should lead to an easier accessibility of the customers to our services. The extensive Russian market with its resources offers to the LEDINEK companies many possibilities for further technological development, getting new experience and realization of new projects.

September 2007
::: Hasslacher-Noritec
With the official ceremony at the opening of the new Noritec Hasslacher L.t.d. laminated beam mill on 28th September, 2007, the Kulterer family and their family business showed a true European spirit.
The selection of suppliers as well as the list of guests coming to the opening from different parts of Europe, from Austria, Germany and all the way to Denmark, Italy and Slovenia could not but confirm it.
The Hasslacher company joined the list of happy LEDINEK customers in 2005 when the first machine from LEDINEK, SUPERPLAN 9V of production speed of 350 m/min, was included in their production machinery. Consequently, LEDINEK has recently equipped the new NORITEC laminated beam mill with as much as seven machines from their wide range of excellent woodworking machines. The most progressive step in technological terms was the installation of a 27 m long glue line proofing device (Beamproof) which, from the beginning, eliminated troubles, damages to wood surface and joints, etc. This resulted in enormous rise of product quality. The advantages of ROTOLES 300 4V-KS200, in function of a planing machine, were not difficult to find. Smooth porous surface allows high adhesive strength. Additionally, with front milling (ROTOLES) there are no tear outs on the surface which means that final cosmetic corrections are not necessary. After gluing, laminated beams are being rough-planed on the two-sided SUPERLES machine of the 1400 mm working width with the possibility of vertical or horizontal ripping. All three machines have been supplied by LEDINEK.
Furthemore, the two final planing machines from the SUPERLES family make the machinery of the giant Top-Factory perfect. SUPERLES 450 mm 4V+4F with production speed of 100m/min and SUPERLES 1400 mm 4V+4F with production speed of 40 m/min are a product of LEDINEK patented technology and their sophisticated systems.
Attention deserves the new planer head grinding machine GML 1400 from LEDINEK which as No. 8 makes the large-scale supply complete.
And what remains for us to say? Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! To our customers and to the Kulterer family!

::: Europlan
Heavy duty: Weinberger L.t.d. from Reichenfels / AUT
Weinberger is mainly a manufacturer of duo-, trio and log house planks.
Their machinery features very high flexibility and capacity utilization which were both achieved by making some well premeditated decisions. This resulted in quality improvement of products and in top production performance.
The exchange of the existing standard planing machine for EUROPLAN 300 4V from LEDINEK with the working speed up to 80 m/min. contributed largely to their increasing production capacity. This is a comprehensive, robust and heavy duty four sided planing machine, specially designed to meet the needs of manufacturers in the field of timber construction. EUROPLAN 300 4V provides both, rough-planing of boards as well as precise finish of laminated and structural timber. The opposite lying vertical units have been engineered to provide perfect surface regularity. The two vertical units are flexible (stroke of 40 mm), thus enabling precise adjusting to the curvature of work pieces. Pressing shoes at the sides can be adjusted to the tool diameter. Both vertical units are height adjustable in the span of 20 mm. Spindles and feed rollers are supported with bearings at both ends.
The machine is equipped with the axis position steering which is a fully integrated part of the machine.
Johann Alfred Weinberger, the owner of Weinberger L.t.d., is enthusiastic about his new acquisition. He is satisfied, above all, with the solid design of the machine and the know-how put into it.
We are looking forward to meeting the demands of new customers and to our old ones we wish further success and business prosperity.
